The Alchemist – Short Book Review

This is the title of the book written by Paulo Coelho. I was one of the late-readers, just read it a week ago. I really like this book. People said it’s very inspiring and I couldn’t agree more. It reminds me to pursue my dreams, desire in life, and see the obstacle as an opportunity to learn something valuable as it is the real treasure of your dreams. Your struggle made you the ‘alchemist’. Well that’s my opinion on the book.
However, I personally think that the title should be ‘The Shepherd Boy” instead of “The Alchemist”... but that doesn’t matter anyway. =P
Highly recommended!

“LIFE CAN BE A STRUGGLE... BUT DO IT WITH STYLE”
Originated from Life & Style – a TV show.
An uplifting quote, I say... U can translate it to whatever, but it definitely shows a positive way to face a problem... ;-)

Siti Masitoh – a thoughtful thought – Common\Feminist

Just a drip passing by after watching daily news on TV 3 days ago.

Siti Masitoh. Does it sounds familiar to you? Probably most of you must have said no. She was nobody famous, but she is now.
She has this baby, 1 year 7 months old Rizky Farhan, currently the baby has this suddenly-epidemic-illness called ‘busung lapar’ or mal-nutrition.
Not only that, the baby, she called ‘Dede’ also got complication with his lung, and anemia, and also bad digestion problem.
I believe that’s more than a 1-year-7-month can bear.
Siti had tried many attempts to get her baby on medication but somehow every penny she earned evaporates for their daily meals or the house rent. As she grows desperate, her creativity somehow triggers her the idea for selling her own organ! As being reported on TV, she used the opportunity to tell the audience that she is willing to sell her kidney and willing to live with only one kidney by totally aware that in such condition she won’t be able to work as hard as she is now. She don’t even mind to trade her own life as long as her son can live a normal life.
That is one sad story among the many in Indonesia. Such an irony when there are so many mall-goers (hey, that’s me! =P), luxurious car-drivers, fine-diners, bla bla out there but there are also people, kids and adults, not knowing what they’re going to eat tomorrow.
Well people do have their own concern, that’s for sure. But let’s take this moment to appreciate what you have today, right now. Your dull outfit, your wrecked car, shitty job, bad-taste-hi-price food in the canteen, etc, etc.
I also deeply salute the mother, Siti Masitoh, for her love to her child despite all the abnormality and the spirit to keep on fighting for her son’s life. Truly inspiring when you’re dealing with problems other than life and death...
From the feminist side, I bet that’s the greatness of mommies, even though it will be exposed in many ways, and has different interpretations, especially from the kids (that sometimes mis-interpret them, don’t we??).
So, besides thanking our current being, let’s also thank our mom! For everything she has done for us, for every burden we give since before we were born up till now.
For you mothers or mother to-be... be grateful for such an opportunity... no man can take that away from you... =))

Friend-Women

Got this from a friend....

When I was little, I used to believe in the concept of one best friend, and then I started to become a woman.
And then I found out that if you allow your heart to open up, God would show you the best in many friends.
One friend is needed when you're going through things with your man.
Another friend is needed when you're going through things with your mom.
Another when you want to shop, share, heal, hurt, joke, or just be.
One friend will say, "Let's cry together," another, "Let's fight together," another, "Let's walk away together."
One friend will meet your spiritual need, another your shoe fetish, another your love for movies, another will be with you in your season of confusion, another will be your clarifier, another the wind beneath your wings. But whatever their assignment in your life, on whatever the occasion, on whatever the day, or wherever you need them to meet you with their gym shoes on and hair pulled back, or to hold you back from making a complete fool of yourself ... those are your best friends.
It may all be wrapped up in one woman, but for many, it's wrapped up in several... one from 7th grade, one from high school, several from the college years, a couple from old jobs, on some days your mother, on some days your neighbour, on others, your sisters, and on some days, your daughters.

All are precious... Viva women!! =))
